Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Prairie Atom website and booking our wilderness expedition services, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services or website.

Service Description

Prairie Atom provides guided wilderness experiences including hiking tours, backcountry camping, photography expeditions, rock climbing adventures, and multi-day trekking across Canadian wilderness areas. All activities are supervised by certified guides with wilderness first aid training and extensive backcountry experience.

Booking and Payment

Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of full payment or agreed deposit. Prices are listed in Canadian Dollars and include guide services, safety equipment, and specified inclusions as detailed in each expedition description. Participants are responsible for personal gear, travel to meeting points, and any additional expenses not explicitly included.

We reserve the right to cancel expeditions due to insufficient enrollment, guide unavailability, or unsafe conditions. In such cases, full refunds or alternative dates will be offered.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the scheduled expedition receive a full refund minus a 10% administrative fee. Cancellations between 15-30 days receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 14 days of departure are non-refundable unless the spot can be filled from our waitlist, in which case a 70% refund applies.

We may cancel or modify expeditions due to weather, safety concerns, or circumstances beyond our control. Participants will receive full refunds or the option to reschedule without penalty.

Participant Responsibilities

Participants must accurately disclose their fitness level, medical conditions, and any factors that might affect their ability to safely complete the chosen expedition. Failure to provide accurate health information may result in removal from an expedition without refund if safety concerns arise.

You are responsible for following guide instructions, maintaining appropriate pace with the group, and adhering to Leave No Trace principles and local regulations during all wilderness activities.

Assumption of Risk

Wilderness activities involve inherent risks including but not limited to: physical exertion, weather exposure, uneven terrain, wildlife encounters, and the remote nature of backcountry environments. By participating, you acknowledge these risks and confirm you are physically and mentally prepared for the demands of your chosen expedition.

While our guides are trained in risk management and emergency response, we cannot eliminate all risks associated with wilderness travel. Participants assume responsibility for their own safety within the framework of guided supervision.

Liability Limitations

Prairie Atom maintains comprehensive liability insurance and follows industry-standard safety protocols. However, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of nature, participant decisions contrary to guide instructions, or pre-existing medical conditions.

Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific expedition in question. We are not responsible for consequential damages, travel expenses, or costs incurred due to expedition modifications or cancellations beyond our control.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and design elements, is the property of Prairie Atom or licensed for our use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without explicit written permission.

Photography and Media

Expedition guides may photograph activities for promotional purposes. By participating, you consent to being photographed and grant Prairie Atom the right to use these images in marketing materials. If you prefer not to be photographed, inform your guide at the start of the expedition.

Conduct Expectations

We expect respectful behavior toward guides, fellow participants, and the natural environment. We reserve the right to remove participants whose conduct endangers others, damages property, or significantly disrupts the expedition experience. No refunds will be provided in cases of behavioral removal.

Website Use

You may use our website for lawful purposes related to learning about and booking our services. Prohibited activities include: attempting to breach security measures, introducing malicious code, collecting user information, or using automated systems to access the site without authorization.

Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms periodically. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services after changes indicates acceptance of modified terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Calgary, Alberta.
